What is WAZA? WAZA is not an acronym as many suspect. Instead it is a Japanese word meaning "technique". This captures a critical underlying philosophy of WAZA F.C. — to develop the techniques necessary for soccer players to achieve their highest level. Not only is this belief fostered on the field but also in developing our players’ off the field "techniques" in their daily lives. Why WAZA?- Outstanding Growth! WAZA F.C. has 64 youth teams in the Southeast MI area. In just 4 years, Rochester based teams have grown to 38and there are 22 Livonia based teams!
- Coaches with Diverse Soccer Experience! Our coaching staff offers players the opportunity to learn from professionals with vast experience in playing and coaching soccer. Our coaches have played and continue to play pro soccer nationally and internationally, coach within our Olympic Development Program, coach collegiately and at local community high schools. Our coaches demonstrate this experience as they passionately coach and play soccer!
- Coaches Focus Beyond Soccer! The focus of our coaching staff centers on developing enthusiastic young soccer players and confident, responsible young adults. Our coaches emphasize education and motivate players to excel at soccer and in life.
- Continuous Improvement Emphasis! The skill, technique and knowledge of our players is continually growing through coaching techniques that are solid yet also continually emerging with new approaches. The club management, organization, communication and services are also continually evolving to meet the needs of our players and their families.
- Cross-Training Practices! Coaches work as a team to enhance play by practicing with more than one team and more than one coach. Different coaching methods are used to reach each player individually, providing additional encouragement and input from multiple coaches for optimal growth!
- Rochester Based “East Side” Club! Outdoor season training is held at Borden Park and Oakland University. Home fields based in Rochester at Borden Park, Spencer Park and Oakland Christian School. Indoor season training and games are played at the new Ultimate Soccer Arenas in Pontiac.
- Accessible & Effective Management! Club owners are readily accessible and at most practice sessions. All fees are listed up front, including tournaments and travel for the year. WAZA F.C. offers a true family atmosphere, going well beyond just a collection of teams. Open communications is emphasized between players, parents, managers and coaches.
